2004 Race Results
After starting our with sprinkles on the way to the start line Saturday morning, the race weather was superb. Start temperature was around 42 with an Indian Summer finish with runners laying on the beach and soaking in the cool blue waters of Lake Tahoe.

We had a marriage proposal at the finish line. We had 10 goofy bus drivers taking the wrong turn at the start of the half marathon and easing through  the very tight start line of the Half Marathon.

Marathoner Don James reported "at about mile 22 or 23  a large black bear jumped across the road between runners.  It came from the lake side and ran into the woods toward the camp ground area.  I have seen 4 or 5 bears over the last few years, but never one in the middle of a race.. I wonder if it tried to get something at the aid station?"

We had our first 35 mile Bike Race to go along with our 72 mile Bike Race on Friday. Jeff Schalk set a new course record for going around the Lake in 3 hours and one minute and change.

John Weru ran for his second consecutive marathon victory.

Sean Meissner won his 4th straight Triple Marathon along with a record 100 very tough Triple finishers.

World age division record holder Helen Klein, 81, finished the Triple Marathon in 18:05 average just over 6 hours per marathon.

The Rock n Roll Marathon Awards Party at Harvey's was fun with the Rip Tides playing oldies from the 50's and 60's.

We ran out of size small wind shirts and out of beer way too early. Other than that we had a spectacular weekend of events. We hope you agree and plan on visiting Tahoe next year for the 10th Lake Tahoe Marathon and Events. The date may change, so stay tuned.
